Bioshock Hints

What can I pick up from the Silverwing Apiary?

  • 1 of 11: This is the area that's down the west branch of the glass-walled tunnel that connects the three areas together.
  • 2 of 11: When you first enter the apiary, you'll see a thuggish splicer getting stung to death by bees.
  • 3 of 11: Quickly retreat all the way back to the market's Securis door and wait a bit before returning to the apiary to make sure you don't get stung.
  • 4 of 11: Check the Gatherer's Garden machine in the apiary's first room for an interesting plasmid called Insect Swarm, plus a few other useful power-ups.
  • 5 of 11: Now you need to search through the large beehive area to the west to find the rest of the enzyme samples that you're after.
  • 6 of 11: Even though the bees won't sting you during a smoke-out, two or three splicers will run in and attack you the instant you start searching hives.
  • 7 of 11: Have Electro Bolt ready to zap them with (or the wrench ready to whack them with) while you continue to search. Having a security bot or two with you would also help.
  • 8 of 11: Don't take too long, since the smoker gadget will stop working after about 30 seconds, and it doesn't have an on-screen timer like security alarms do.
  • 9 of 11: Run back to one of the smoker controls before the timer dings, then use it again after any remaining splicers have been killed to start another 30-second smoke-out session.
  • 10 of 11: Since splicers only appear when you check hives for enzymes, you could search the area for other supplies (including a safe and vending machine) until the smoke timer is almost up, then quickly search two or three hives and whack or zap splicers on your way back to the smoker control area. Repeat as necessary.
  • 11 of 11: If you're not averse to exploiting the Vita-Chamber concept, you could hit a smoker control, then run in and raid the hives as fast as you can, ignoring all else, until you die and get revived at a Vita-Chamber. Run back to the apiary and repeat the process until you get seven or more enzyme samples. This is easy to do, and doesn't cost you any first aid kits or ammo.
