Bioshock 2 Hints
Weapon Tips
1 of 6: To keep a good supply of ammo on hand, be sure to always search containers and corpses. Also, check Circus of Values and El Ammo Bandito vending machines for any type of ammo that you're short on. (Hack the machines first in order to get a wider selection of items and lower prices. See the Hacking Tips.)
2 of 6: Your weapons will be automatically reloaded while not in use, though it can take awhile for that to happen. You should frequently go through your entire weapon inventory in safe areas to make sure everything is reloaded with the type of ammo you want to have in it.
3 of 6: The speargun is a great sniping weapon, and can be used for one-shot kills with most splicers by hitting them in the head. If you can't sneak up on them, paralyze them with Electro Bolt or Winter Blast before head-shotting them. (Before you get the speargun, use the rivet gun.)
4 of 6: Whenever you come across a "Power to the People" weapon upgrade machine, be sure to use it to upgrade a feature of your favorite weapon. Each weapon upgrade machine can be used only once, and there aren't enough in the game to upgrade all six of your upgradable weapons with all three improvements. You should always think carefully about which upgrade would do you the most good in the near future, since it may be awhile before you find the next weapon upgrade machine. (See the Weapon Upgrade Machine List to see exactly where they all are.)
5 of 6: You may not think much of the drill as a weapon at first, but it can be very powerful after you get the first brute splicer research reward and the second big daddy research reward (see the Research Tips) plus various tonics like Drill Power and Drill Lurker. Even when it's out of fuel, you can still deliver devastating melee attacks with it. (Though do try to keep it fueled, since you need fuel for both drilling and drill dashes.)
6 of 6: In fact, the drill is so powerful that many experienced players enjoy playing all the way through the game on hard difficulty using only the drill and various plasmids as offensive weapons. (Of course, they also use the hack tool and research camera whenever appropriate.) In other words, they play through the game as if they always have the Drill Specialist tonic spliced in.
