Black Mirror III Hints
How can I solve the projector puzzle?
of 17: First, make sure that you can operate all of the buttons, including the row of six buttons that operate the color filter. If those aren't working or you don't know why they're important, than you may have missed something in the instructions on how this puzzle works.
of 17: Fast-forward and/or rewind through the film until you notice something odd.
of 17: Somewhere near the middle of the film, the image briefly gets darker and more sharply defined.
of 17: That's the only interesting part of the whole film, so that must be where the metal box's combo is located.
of 17: Try to pause the film at that part.
of 17: The slower the film is fast-forwarding or rewinding, the easier that'll be.
of 17: Set the left knob to its leftmost setting, then use the right knob to start the film going.
of 17: Point the tip of the cursor at the right knob's "pause" button, and click as soon as the darker part of the film appears.
of 17: After you do that, you'll notice that there are no numbers of any sort on the screen. That must be where the color filters come in.
of 17: Remember that you can have two color filters up at a time if you choose one from the first set (the first three buttons) and one from the second set (the other three buttons).
of 17: That means there are 3 X 3 = 9 different combinations of color filters to try. That shouldn't take too long.
of 17: First, note that if you try each filter by itself, three of the combo's four digits will appear when you bring up the blue filter.
of 17: That means Darren could guess the metal box's combo in a max of 20 tries, but that's apparently not good enough for him. Keep trying filters until you can see all four digits.
of 17: I don't know if this is meant to be a clue, but if you exit the puzzle screen and look around, you'll see that there are three different colors of light in the morgue.
of 17: One is red (the little red light on the intercom if you haven't fixed it yet), two are white (the projector's light and the dissecting table's light), and one is yellow (the writing desk's light).
of 17: There's no white filter on the camera, so try the red and yellow ones.
of 17: When you have both of those up, the four-digit combo will be displayed on the screen.
