Rite of the Wolf Giver

  • 1 of 18: This quest has to do with curing yourself of the werewolf condition, and can be done anytime after you first become a wolf. You don't even have to be working on the main quest series to get it.
  • 2 of 18: While in non-wolf form, ask about "latest rumors" in Thirsk or the Skaal Village to learn that a mysterious black raven has been seen at the Altar of Thrond (location 47 on the Solstheim Map). Or read the note on the ground near the boat service guy at the fort to achieve the same effect.
  • 3 of 18: Approach the raven to speak to Ettiene of Glenmoril Wyrd.
  • 4 of 18: You now have the choice to rid yourself of your werewolfish condition forever or to keep it forever.
  • 5 of 18: If you choose to get rid of it, Ettiene will teleport you and herself to the Gloomy Cave (location 37 on the map), which is where she and her two sisters have set up camp.
  • 6 of 18: Ettiene will tell you to get the things her two sisters need and then speak to her again.
  • 7 of 18: This might be a good spot to note that you may not have to go through their ritual in order to be cured.
  • 8 of 18: When you talk to Fallaise and Isobel, you'll learn that they need Wolfsbane Petals and Ripened Belladonna Berries for their potion.
  • 9 of 18: Once both of them have what they need, report back to Ettiene.
  • 10 of 18: She'll say to meet her back at the Altar of Thrond, so go back there and talk to her again.
  • 11 of 18: WARNING: If you haven't saved recently, do so before going back to the altar, and then not again until the whole quest is over. Saving in the middle of the ritual and then restoring can really mess things up.
  • 12 of 18: It seems that part of the ritual is killing an innocent Nord female and extracting her heart. Yuck!
  • 13 of 18: Grab the Wolfgiver Silver Dagger off the altar and use it (or any other weapon) to kill the innocent.
  • 14 of 18: Once she's dead, raid her body to get her heart. *DO NOT* dispose of the corpse, though, since that will make it impossible to finish the ritual.
  • 15 of 18: Talk to Ettiene to hand over the heart and get it enchanted with lycanthropy.
  • 16 of 18: When you get it back, put it back in the innocent's body and talk to Ettiene again.
  • 17 of 18: Now all you have to do is kill the werewolf that the innocent turns into in order to be cured of the werewolf condition forever.
  • 18 of 18: NOTE: If you've been doing the werewolf quest subset of the main quest series, you'll have to switch to the Skaal quests now.
