The Elder Scrolls III: Bloodmoon Hints
Tymvaul in the Well
of 9: Talk to Lassnr in his house in the Skaal Village about "old man's anguish" to get this quest.
of 9: He says that Tymmy fell down the well again. Since Lassie isn't around, it's up to you to go rescue him.
of 9: Lassnr gives you a key to the well, so head out and find it a ways west of his house.
of 9: NOTE: If you use the key and dive into the well, you'll have to swim a ways before you can surface for air. Also, Tymvaul is a lot closer to the other entrance to Rimhull, so you might want to find it and use it. (It's the southern-most location 2 on the Solstheim Map.)
of 9: Once you kill all of the local skeletons, talk to Tymvaul to learn that he's gone evil and is now in the possession of a powerful evil artifact.
of 9: When you talk to him about the Mantle of Woe, you'll get lots of options.
of 9: The best one is to remind him of his father's love. He'll get all teary-eyed, hand the mantle over, and promise to leave Solstheim to study good magic somewhere else.
of 9: Report this to his father to get five Snow Bear pelts (which are useful with the smith in Thirsk).
of 9: NOTE: The Mantle of Woe you get from Tymmy is a very powerful robe that can vastly increase your magicka points and Conjuration skill, but it also has some powerful negative effects on it. See the following link to find out how to negate most of those negative effects.
