Mystery Case Files: Dire Grove Hints
How do I turn off the water?
of 10: As part of the process of getting into the manager's office --
of 10: -- you'll find yourself confronted by a large geyser of water, and your detective refuses to take another step until the water is turned off. Looks like the hotel manager didn't complete that checklist on the stairs after all.
of 10: But the checklist is still helpful, in that it tells us where to go to turn off the water. Go out toward the garage and look for something that looks like a manhole.
of 10: There it is, to the left of the garage, on the path leading to the boathouse. Click on it --
of 10: -- to find that it really is a manhole, with a massive manhole cover, argh! You'll need a crowbar to lift that.
of 10: And luckily, you can find one in the second hidden object scene inside the garage. Use the crowbar on the manhole cover three times --
of 10: -- and now you need some kind of lever or wheel or something to close this valve. There's one very close, though you may not have noticed it.
of 10: Go back into the garage and look up.
of 10: See that beautifully ornate wheel hanging from a rafter overhead? That's it. You can't reach it by hand, but there's a great hook on a chain hanging here that's conveniently within arm's reach.
of 10: Click on the hook to swing it, and click on it again while it's swinging to swing it a little harder and knock down the wheel. Take the wheel out to the main and put it on the valve in the manhole, then click on the wheel to turn the water off.
