How can I take the mason's gold?
1 of 10: You need to get into the Shades to find the mason. He'll be there repairing the wall during the day (or what passes for day in the Shades).
2 of 10: His item of gold is the trowel that he's using.
3 of 10: To get it, you need to create a distraction.
4 of 10: Talk to the starfish in the square. He'll teach you a distraction.
5 of 10: The secret handshake is what you need here. But you have to prove that you're a man in order to learn it.
6 of 10: To find out what you can do, take a look at the toilet wall in the alley next to the fishmonger in L-space. (This is a hint, but it's also something that you must do to trigger the right dialog.)
7 of 10: Go to the cathouse (in L-space) in the Shades and see if Big Sal's special will help you become a man. Talk to the women there -- one is Sal.
8 of 10: Now all you need to do is collect the items that she requires. Some of these items can only be found outside the city gate, so you may want to try to get through that first.
