Watchguard of the Reaching
1 of 10: Start on this quest by examining the apprentice's footlocker that's in the first right-side room past the big metal door that the templars bar behind you.
2 of 10: Continue by examining the two apprentice's footlockers in the next right-side room. (Only one of them applies to this quest, but you might as well examine them both.)
3 of 10: There's an apprentice note to read in the middle library room.
4 of 10: On the Senior Mage Quarters floor, there are apprentice notes to read in the eastern room with three blood mages and in the northern room with two blood mages and an abomination.
5 of 10: The final apprentice note is in the common room on the Great Hall floor.
6 of 10: After you find all six of those messages, read through them in entry #317 in the quest-related section of your codex.
7 of 10: Take special notice of the four ritual notes. They give you the clues you need to properly use four special statues on the Great Hall floor.
8 of 10: Return to the Apprentice Quarters floor and go over to the basement door in the northern room where you found Wynne.
9 of 10: You still can't open it, but attempting to do so will cause a powerful fire demon called Shah Wyrd to appear nearby.
10 of 10: Take it down with the help of the other mages in the room, then loot its remains to get a magic greatsword called Yusaris that does bonus damage against dragons.
