Dragon Age: Origins Hints

Find the missing elves.

  • 1 of 18: Before you continue the quest, check around for several optional things to do.
  • 2 of 18: Find the hospice's back door in the back alley that's north of the big tree, and talk to the lone door guard.
  • 3 of 18: You could bribe him to let you in, but it's best to attack him and take the key from his corpse.
  • 4 of 18: Use the back door to enter the hospice, then kill the guards that run to the attack.
  • 5 of 18: Check the table in the NE corner to find an informative note with a useful key in it.
  • 6 of 18: Loot the pile of coins that are on the same table, then loot the nearby locked chest and wooden crate. Also, enter the small SE room and free the caged elves.
  • 7 of 18: Exit the hospice through either door (preferably the back door) and kill off all the outdoor guards, then talk to Shianni and show her the note and key you found in the hospice.
  • 8 of 18: Go to the west end of the back alley behind the hospice and enter the run-down apartments.
  • 9 of 18: Follow the narrow hallways along to a locked door that the hospice key will open. Past it is an exit to an area where several Tevinter guards will attack you.
  • 10 of 18: After they're down, find the door to the warehouse at the other end of the area. (Loot the barrel next to it before using it.)
  • 11 of 18: Talk to Devera about the slave trade that's going on here. You can try to convince her to take you directly to her leader's room, intimidate her into leaving, or fight her and her men. (The combat is an *extremely* hard one, so you'll probably want to try the other options first.)
  • 12 of 18: See if you can persuade or intimidate Caladrius into giving you what you need without a fight. Or just provoke a fight if you'd rather do things that way.
  • 13 of 18: If you fight Caladrius, he'll surrender when his health is almost gone. You can suggest he come up with a new offer, then accept his offer to use the captured elves' life forces to give your main character a +1 to Constitution.
  • 14 of 18: However, that will greatly lower the approval of some companions. You might prefer to finish the fight or tell him to get out and leave everything. (If you kill him, loot his body for the documents you need.)
  • 15 of 18: Look around his room for a vase, a cabinet, a wooden crate, and a locked chest before using the north exit to return to the alienage.
  • 16 of 18: Enter Valendrian's house (south of the big tree) and talk to him about Duncan to get an old magic dagger of his as a reward.
  • 17 of 18: Return to Arl Eamon's estate, but don't talk to the arl yet if you haven't already talked to Anora in the NE room.
  • 18 of 18: Talk to the arl in his study to finish the quest.
