Dragon Age: Origins Hints

Spider and Emissary Combat Tips

  • 1 of 13: Move across the bridge slowly until some corrupted spiders attack.
  • 2 of 13: Kill them all before moving ahead, since there's a genlock emissary on a platform past the bridge on the left.
  • 3 of 13: Run up to him and thrash him good, then have everyone hold position on his platform.
  • 4 of 13: Send one character slowly east until two corrupted spiders appear, then have him lead them back to the party.
  • 5 of 13: Lure any other spiders back, then use ranged attacks to damage the genlock emissary on the platform in the distance so he'll come after you, too.
  • 6 of 13: Send your scout character over to the genlock's platform to get two more corrupted spiders to lure back.
  • 7 of 13: That area is now clear, so move your party to a position that's about halfway between the two genlock platforms. Get everyone to stand as close as they can to the rocks on the north side of the passage.
  • 8 of 13: Send your scout north of the first platform, then have him slowly move east.
  • 9 of 13: That'll get the corrupted spider queen to drop down along with two regular corrupted spiders. If you run back to your group fast enough, you may be able to finish off the two regular ones before having to take on the queen. (Or maybe only the queen will follow you.)
  • 10 of 13: If that doesn't work, you may want to try sending your scout north from the second platform instead of the first one to trigger the queen's appearance.
  • 11 of 13: After the queen is damaged enough, she'll web-ify everyone and disappear. If you lured her off to the south of her spawn point to fight her, you'll have a short time to stand and heal before she can get back to you.
  • 12 of 13: When you finally mange to kill the queen, a bunch more corrupted spiders will drop down in her area.
  • 13 of 13: Stay back and lure them to you as before, then move around in their area to see if any more will appear (though they shouldn't).
