What can I do with the ballista bolt that's in one of the barrels?

2 of 5: The ballista that's next to the barrel is already loaded, so look around for another one.
3 of 5: On a platform to the north is a battered ballista that's empty.
4 of 5: Right-click on it to load it, then again to fire it.
5 of 5: That opens up a passage to the east, which will be a handy shortcut after you get the shield.
