Dragon Age: Origins Hints
Follow Branka's trail through the Dead Trenches.
1 of 16: Go down the passage NE of the journal to find a fractured stone and an exit that you can use to make the Dead Trenches area accessible.
2 of 16: Return to Orzammar (or Ruck in the huge central chamber) if you want merchant services, then travel to the Dead Trenches.
3 of 16: Move south to find Kardol and his legionnaires fighting darkspawn.
4 of 16: Look near the large Gates of Bownammar for a codex-giving runestone, then look in the area to the south to find a fractured stone and a broken chest.
5 of 16: Go back across the bridge to get Kardol and his men to cross it if they haven't already. Talk to him once he's across, then go to the north end of the area to find a fractured stone and a passage leading east.
6 of 16: Move along the passage until you find a fractured stone and some hurlocks. Stay near the stone and fight the hurlocks that come after you, then run after the archers.
7 of 16: They'll lead you into a big cave with lots more darkspawn. Station your party in the tunnel and use the Lead-Them-Off Strategy to kill the darkspawn a few at a time. After they're finished off, look around for loot.
9 of 16: In the large area at the east end of the bridge, check the north niche for a fractured stone, then move south slowly. There are two ogres nearby, and you'll want to fight them one at a time. (Note that it's probably easiest to get the southern ogre's attention first.)
10 of 16: Check the nearby bridge segment for codex-giving rubble, then try the door to the east to learn that it requires a key.
11 of 16: Past the door, raid the fleshy sack and read the codex-giving runestone, then enter the next tunnel and raid a sarcophagus (if you did the gangue shade combat in the legion shrine), a fractured stone, and two fleshy sacks.
13 of 16: After you defeat the thing, loot its corpse for several good items, then use the area transition in the NE corner of its room to add the Anvil of the Void area to the Deep Roads map.
14 of 16: Going to the Anvil of the Void will trap you into finishing the dwarf treaty quests. Before you do that, you should finish up the other things you've started (see the notes below), and maybe adventure elsewhere to build up your characters more.
15 of 16: After entering the Anvil of the Void area, go along the rocky passage until you get the party selection screen, which comes up to make sure you have Oghren in your party for the rest of the area.
16 of 16: Just past that, you'll finally meet up with Paragon Branka, who enlists your aid in reaching the actual anvil.
