1 of 12: You'll get this quest when you finish the "Blackpowder Courtesy" main plot quest.
2 of 12: Go to Anders' clinic in Darktown and talk to him, then go down to the opposite (south) end of Darktown to find an entrance to the Gallows Dungeon area.
3 of 12: When you enter, you'll be able to choose who to take with you other than Anders. (Don't take Sebastian unless you want to gain rivalry points with him.)
4 of 12: Loot the bones in the starting room, then check the east side area for more bones, some spindleweed, and a crate before going down the wooden stairs to the south.
5 of 12: Loot the corpse past the stairs, then go down some more stairs to reach an area where you'll be attacked by several lyrium smugglers and dwarf mercenaries.
6 of 12: After finishing them off, loot the mercs to get the item that starts the "The One True Pantaloons" side quest, then go all around the big path loop to find the following things: a combat with several giant spiders (south end of the loop), two lootable corpses, some lootable bones, a deep mushroom, and a locked chest (small west-side passage).
7 of 12: Go up the stairs at the SW end of the path loop to find two more lootable bone piles, then move on to find another group of lyrium smugglers and dwarven mercs to kill. Finish them off, then watch for a lootable corpse just before the next smuggler-and-merc combat.
8 of 12: Loot the corpse in their area, then watch for another lootable corpse followed by two lootable bone piles as you make your way along to the area where Ser Alrik and his templars are menacing a female mage.
9 of 12: When they attack you, run everyone back down the passage a short way to keep from being surrounded. Take out the weaker templars first, then go after the templar hunters and Ser Alrik.
10 of 12: When the combat is over, Anders will go all nuts. To keep him from killing Ella, tell him to calm down, then say "don't hurt her."
11 of 12: After Anders leaves, loot Ser Alrik to get his papers, then go up the stone stairs to reach an exit doorway. Look in the area to the right of it for a crate with a companion armor upgrade, a locked chest, a lootable corpse, and a codex item.
12 of 12: Use the exit doorway to return to Darktown and talk to Ella briefly, then go back north to Anders' clinic. Talk to him and give him Ser Alrik's papers to finish the quest.
