Dreamfall: The Longest Journey Hints
How can I avoid the creatures in the lair?
1 of 10: Once you've gotten past the altar room, you'll be in the creatures' own lair. They won't be quite as forgiving about your presence as they were outside.
2 of 10: Sneaking is always helpful if you want to go completely undetected.
3 of 10: You can try hiding behind rubble if you hear a creature approaching, but be careful that the creature doesn't get too close to you while you're hiding -- or else it may still realize you're behind the rubble.
4 of 10: For the most part, though, I found that these creatures weren't that common, and that it wasn't worth the "paranoia" of always sneaking and hiding to avoid them. Chances are, you won't get spotted all that often, and when you do, it's not necessarily fatal. Saving and restoring your game on occasion may be easier than hiding -- but be careful to save in a new slot, so you don't accidentally overwrite progress by saving at the wrong time.
Or you may decide to be more cautious by sneaking and hiding yourself -- it's really a matter of personal gaming style.
5 of 10: The little creatures like the ones you saw outside aren't the real problem, but they will sound an alarm.
6 of 10: And once they do, you'll see a much larger creature come after you. Once that one finds you, you're in real trouble.
7 of 10: So your best bet is to get very far away -- before the larger creature spots you.
8 of 10: You may be able to get back to the stairs leading up to the altar room in time before it sees you. Hide somewhere on that end of the lair.
9 of 10: Or, if you've gotten to the far side of the lair from the entrance and found a secret door, going through that passageway may give you cover. From either hiding spot, wait until the more ominous music stops to know the coast is clear.
10 of 10: Once the creature sees you, it's going to follow, and the fight is basically impossible. That's why frequent game saving may come in handy, so that encounters with creatures of either size won't cost you too much progress.
