Echo: Secrets of the Lost Cavern Hints

How do I reassemble the broken tablets?

  • 1 of 10: If you haven't already, you'll need to find them.
  • 2 of 10: The goal, of course, is to reassemble the broken pieces of stone lying here.  When completed, the pieces will be assembled into two tablets.
  • 3 of 10: The most difficult thing about this puzzle is that some of the movements are rather precise.  That is, unless a stone is placed in exactly the correct spot, there is not much leeway for it to be "snapped" into place.  At times, this turns the puzzle into something of a pixel hunt.  Be patient, and see what you can do to simplify the puzzle.
  • 4 of 10: Note that not all pieces are equal.  It seems that two of the pieces -- one from each tablet -- cannot be picked up.  They are fixed in place.
  • 5 of 10: This provides a starting point for the puzzle, as all other pieces must join to one of these two fixed pieces.
  • 6 of 10: Just like a real puzzle, the pieces of these tablets cannot be assembled in just any order.  A piece can only be inserted into its correct location if it directly joins to one of the two fixed pieces, or if it joins to another piece that is already joined to one of the two fixed pieces.  In other words, the puzzle can only be solved by "extending" the two fixed pieces outward.
  • 7 of 10: On occasion, one or more pieces will not be able to be moved into its correct place because there is another loose piece in its way.  When this happens, the piece that is in the way must be moved first.  There are two ways to do this -- first, you can find the appropriate spot (on the tablet) for the piece that is in the way, or second, you can move the piece out of the way by placing it on the rock in the upper middle portion of the puzzle.  Keep in mind, however, that the rock can only hold one piece at a time; and the piece resting on the rock can only be moved back to its original position or into its correct position in the tablets.
  • 8 of 10: It can be difficult to fit the puzzle pieces together, since there isn't much of a diagram on either of the tablets.  But the picture on the left portion has details that are a bit easier to see, making it easier to work on that puzzle for the first few pieces.
  • 9 of 10: It is often easier to matches the shapes of the puzzle pieces, rather than the pictures.
  • 10 of 10: If all else fails, you can try each piece, one at a time, around both immovable puzzles until you find pieces that fit together.
