So what exactly is going on?
1 of 4: Poirot and Hastings are stuck in Poirot's apartment during an air raid in the early days of World War II. This means they're sitting in the dark listening to sirens and wondering if German bombs are about to fall out of the silent night and blow them into atoms. As you might imagine, that's not a lot of fun. So to pass the time until the all-clear sounds, Poirot offers to tell Hastings about a case he recently investigated at an island resort.
2 of 4: To make it more interesting, he tells Hastings that he (that is, Hastings) will control all of Poirot's actions. This means that you'll see Poirot doing all the investigating and so on, but it will be Hastings (that is, you) telling him what to do.
