How do I get the thing in the water at the Bathing Beach?
1 of 12: What thing in the water, you ask? Get the binoculars from Mrs. Castle and look at the swimming float out in the water off of the Bathing Beach.
2 of 12: There's no way you're getting Poirot in the water, and I bet you weren't even going to suggest it. Ask around among the athletic young studs on the island; maybe one of them will help. In fact, didn't you see someone actually in the water earlier?
3 of 12: Talk to Patrick above Cutter's Cove. After some whining, he agrees to go swimming for you, but only if you can fix his goggles. Read to the end of this hint for complete instructions on how to do this.
4 of 12: It's not too apparent, but what's wrong is that the strap broke. You need a piece of leather with holes in it to fix the goggles. (And don't ask me who puts a leather strap on goggles that are meant to be worn in the ocean.)
5 of 12: A belt would work, but there aren't any around the place. But do you remember seeing something very like a belt in one of the hotel guest rooms?
6 of 12: Major Barry's suitcase was held together by a leather strap; that would do nicely. But we don't need the whole thing, just a piece of it. If only you had something to cut it with!
7 of 12: Go back out in the hall and look for the maid's cart outside Poirot's room; she's got some scissors you can use. Snip! and there's that bit of vandalism completed.
8 of 12: Now you need to poke some holes in the strap. There isn't such a thing as a leather punch around --
9 of 12: -- but there is an ice pick lying around in the bar downstairs. Try that.
10 of 12: Use the ice pick on the strap, and then use the strap on the goggles. Voila!
11 of 12: To recap: -- Get the scissors from the maid's cart. -- Use the scissors on the strap on the suitcase in Major Barry's room. -- Get the ice pick from the hotel bar. -- Combine ice pick and strap, then combine strap and goggles.
12 of 12: Give the fixed goggles to Patrick, and he'll go swimming for you.
