Fable Hints

Leaving the World of the Engulfed Fortress

  • 1 of 26: **** WARNING **** Save here!
  • 2 of 26: If you are not there already, go to the center of the cave area.
  • 3 of 26: Again, Look at and Examine the control box of the elevator mechanism.
  • 4 of 26: The red and green indicators should be reversed -- i.e. the green arrow which was previously on the left and pointing upwards should now be on the right and pointing downwards.
  • 5 of 26: If this is not so, you haven't operated a special control switch properly.
  • 6 of 26: You'll ~have~ to do this now.
  • 7 of 26: You've got to find this control switch.
  • 8 of 26: It's in Vivern's observatory.
  • 9 of 26: Go there and switch it from the 'up' to the 'down' position.  There's no sign of anything happening -- in there!
  • 10 of 26: Return and see if the elevator control box is now set correctly (It's wise to Save here!).
  • 11 of 26: If so, operate it and the elevator goes down instead of up.
  • 12 of 26: But it gets stuck on the way!
  • 13 of 26: Look at and Examine the sign; 'To the Land of Shadows'.
  • 14 of 26: Look at and Examine the elevator platform.
  • 15 of 26: It's a long way down.
  • 16 of 26: Try everything and any way to get to the bottom.
  • 17 of 26: Whatever you try on or with the elevator, you can't get it to budge.
  • 18 of 26: There has to be some other way of getting down.
  • 19 of 26: You can try Using the tunnel (elevator shaft).  Quickthorpe jumps down alright; but not surprisingly is DOA.
  • 20 of 26: Perhaps there is some way of slowing his descent.
  • 21 of 26: He could do with a parachute --- but he hasn't got one.
  • 22 of 26: Maybe he's got some substitute.
  • 23 of 26: You can try improvising by using a wool blanket.
  • 24 of 26: There was one in the Wooden Tower in the Land of Mists.
  • 25 of 26: Use the blanket on Quickthorpe. *** N.B.  If you haven't got the blanket, you can still go back up to the Land of Mists and get it ~before~ you start your descent on the elevator, but not after! ***
  • 26 of 26: You arrive at the Land of Shadows.
