How can I kill Rawr?

  • 1 of 8: Go back to the pool of water, then cross it.
  • 2 of 8: Go slowly down a wide rock passage. When it starts getting dark, quicksave.
  • 3 of 8: Move forward a bit more until the passage behind you is blocked by a huge rockslide. At the same time, Rawr will appear in the cave ahead.
  • 4 of 8: He'll often see you right away and attack, even if you're crouched with a stealth boy active. You'll have to prepare for the battle by using med-x, slasher, etc. before the rockslide happens, then hit Rawr with your most powerful automatic weapon (preferably with armor-piercing rounds loaded into it).
  • 5 of 8: Or you can use some mines and satchel charges to blow him up. To do that, move up near the spot where two tires are just past a skeleton, then drop your mines between the tires. Move past the tires to get the rockfall to happen, then immediately run back to it. If you set enough charges, Rawr will be killed by them. Otherwise, finish him off quickly as mentioned above.
  • 6 of 8: Or you can use the Old World Blues' Sonic Emitter with the Tarantula calibration and hope you get lucky before he kills you. Or use the fact that being set on fire by a flare gun makes deathclaws run away from you, allowing you to shoot them at close range safely for a short time. Or try using a stealth boy and a powerful silenced weapon.
  • 7 of 8: After Rawr is dead, loot his body to get the Rawr's Talon item. It can be made into a unique unarmed weapon at a workbench if your Unarmed skill is 75+.
  • 8 of 8: To leave the cave, you'll need to detonate the warhead that fell down with the rockfall. (Note that there's another warhead in the cave, but detonating it doesn't seem to get you anything.)
