Sonic Emitter
1 of 3: This almost unique energy pistol is designed to do bonus damage against robots and power-armor-wearing NPCs.
2 of 3: You'll get one from the Think Tank when you talk to them on the "Welcome to the Big Empty" main quest, and you can buy one from the Sink's CIU right after that quest is finished.
3 of 3: A sonic emitter can be recalibrated to have different critical-strike effects (see the Disabled Jukebox info), and there's a special upgrade that'll allow sonic emitters to short out force fields (see the "Sonic Emitter Upgrade" optional quest).
