Fallout: New Vegas Game Add-Ons (DLC) Hints

Disabled Jukebox

  • 1 of 6: You can use the jukebox to recalibrate Sonic Emitter guns to any of five different types -- once you've found sound samples for the four types that you don't start out with.
  • 2 of 6: To get the sound sample holotapes, either do the "Field Research" optional quest's first objective, or check the list below to see where all the upgrades are without doing any quests.
  • 3 of 6: Each calibration does different damage, and has its own special critical strike effect.
  • 4 of 6: Specifically, the Gabriel's bark calibration knocks enemies down on critical strikes, the opera singer calibration does extra damage on critical strikes, the revelation calibration paralyzes enemies (including robots) on critical strikes, the robo-scorpion calibration causes an explosion on critical strikes, and the tarantula calibration sets enemies on fire on critical strikes.
  • 5 of 6: In practice, a critical hit with the tarantula calibration can do way more than just set an enemy on fire for a few seconds. It sometimes blows him up, killing him instantly no matter how much health he has left. I don't know if that's a glitch or not, but it sure is great! Sneak up on a powerful foe, quicksave, and then sneak-attack him with your tarantula-calibrated sonic emitter. If he doesn't blow up, quickrestore and try again until he does.
  • 6 of 6: You can repair your sonic emitters for free by having the jukebox recalibrate them. You don't even have to change the calibration if you don't want to -- just choose the same one again, and it'll be repaired to almost 100% condition.
