Sonic Emitter Upgrade
1 of 2: You'll get this quest when you finish the "Welcome to the Big Empty" main quest, but there won't be anything to do on it until you finish the third objective of the "X-8 Data Retrieval Test" quest.
2 of 2: All you have to do then is use any sonic emitter (no matter how it's calibrated) to disable any force field. (Note that there's one just to the left of the terminal you downloaded the upgrade from.)
