Fallout: New Vegas Game Add-Ons (DLC) Hints

What's the best way to snipe him down?

  • 1 of 8: First, go up fairly near him, but not close enough to trigger the conversation with him. Quicksave when you get close, then see exactly how far you can go.
  • 2 of 8: Drop a large cluster of mines and satchel charges on the floor directly between you and Ulysses. If ED-E is with you, have him hold position somewhere nearby.
  • 3 of 8: If you have some mines left over, go back to the entry room and drop a couple of them next to each locked side door, plus some more in the large doorway that leads to the missile chamber. (Those are for the first few marked men who enter the area.)
  • 4 of 8: Find the stick-out computer bank that's near the north corner of the missile chamber. It's to your right as you enter the chamber.
  • 5 of 8: You can hide behind that computer bank to help avoid detection, but it's not perfect cover. It's best to have a silenced scoped weapon (like a silenced sniper rifle) and at least one stealth boy.
  • 6 of 8: Crouch down next to the stick-out computer bank so you can see Ulysses through your weapon's scope, then use a stealth boy and any damage-increasing chems you have before you start hitting Ulysses in the head with armor-piercing rounds.
  • 7 of 8: Hopefully, he'll take a few shots without moving, and will then go down to where he detonates your mine cluster. However, he sometimes stands there without moving, and his eyebots or the marked men will detonate the mine cluster. (But that's okay -- just keep shooting Ulysses with armor-piercing rounds until he dies.)
  • 8 of 8: Ulysses' medical eyebot will keep healing him, so killing him with sneaky long-distance shots may not work for you. If not, shoot him a couple of times to get the combat started, then sneak around and do the "Optional: Disable Ulysses' Eyebots" objective (if your skills are high enough) without anyone seeing you. After that, return to the stick-out computer bank for cover and wait it out, or do some more long-distance shooting. (Or go blast Ulysses up close with a powerful silent weapon.)
