Fallout: New Vegas Hints
Is there a way to use a more powerful weapon in an arena fight?
1 of 6: Not if a fight has already started. If it hasn't, you can arrange a way to use an illegal weapon in the next fight.
2 of 6: Since all or most of your weapons were confiscated at the main gate, you'll need to steal one from a Legion soldier or a footlocker. See the "Exactly how could I get my confiscated weapons back?" hints for some tips on that.
3 of 6: Enter the arena and drop the weapon you want to use so that it lands on the ground near the arena's entrance. If the weapon requires ammo, drop some (or all) of it, too.
4 of 6: As soon as the fight starts, look down and pick up the weapon you dropped (and its ammo, if applicable), then bring up your Pip-Boy so you can equip the weapon.
5 of 6: You can then use it to finish off your opponent(s), and you won't even get penalized for cheating.
6 of 6: Note that you can also drop armor in the arena before a fight, and can have followers wait inside the arena (though they'll probably vanish during the fight).
