Fallout: New Vegas Hints

NCR Trooper or NCR Ranger

  • 1 of 7: Soon after you get your NCR faction rep up to "accepted," a ranger will give you an NCR emergency radio.
  • 2 of 7: Use it from the Aid section of your inventory to call for an NCR trooper or ranger if you're close to a major NCR-controlled area.
  • 3 of 7: Your NCR guy won't show up instantly, though going through an area transition doorway should get him to appear.
  • 4 of 7: If he doesn't immediately start running off somewhere (which often happens), he'll become a follower, and will go anywhere with you.
  • 5 of 7: Note that he'll be automatically hostile to Great Khans and Caesar's Legion faction members, though that won't turn them against you.
  • 6 of 7: When he dies, you can loot him and then radio for a replacement if it's been 24 hours or more since you last used the radio. To get rid of him without getting him killed, use the radio to dismiss him.
  • 7 of 7: NOTE: You can also use the radio to get the NCR to drop a supply footlocker near you. To find it, make the "Emergency Radio" quest that you get active, then follow the quest arrow.
