Fallout: New Vegas Hints

Go to the Control Room in Hoover Dam and install the override chip.

  • 1 of 8: You and your securitron escort appear near the dam's visitor center. Go past it and onto the dam itself.
  • 2 of 8: You need to make it to the dam's second guard tower. Check the local area map for a quest arrow showing you exactly where the tower's entry door is.
  • 3 of 8: There's some serious fighting going on between you and that tower door. Fortunately, unless you really gained a lot of infamy with the NCR, the only hostiles will be Legion soldiers. The NCR will help you fight them, as will any allies you gained earlier.
  • 4 of 8: If you did the Great Khans' quests and convinced Papa Khan to send his men to help at the dam, they and the NCR should be able to finish off all the Legion soldiers near the first guard tower. (Unless they attack each other first, which will weaken them.)
  • 5 of 8: There'll be more Legion soldiers as you move on to the second tower, but the NCR may be able to handle them. Also, if you got the Boomers to promise support, you'll get to see their new B-29 bomber fly overhead and drop a bunch of bombs.
  • 6 of 8: Help kill off the last of the Legion soldiers near the second tower if necessary, then enter it and use the elevator to go to the offices area.
  • 7 of 8: Exit the room you start in and head east to find a door guarded by two NCR heavy troopers. They don't want to let you in, so you'll have to decoy them away with a Speech 75 check or kill them.
  • 8 of 8: Past their door, go to the back of the room and activate the central of the three large control box devices. That'll allow you to install the override chip and talk to Mr. House.
