Fallout: New Vegas Hints
Technology Smorgasbord
of 11: The Brotherhood of Steel has tons of great hi-tech gear in their secret bunker hideaway. To gain free access to their bunker, do the first three objectives of their "Still in the Dark" faction quest.
of 11: On level 1 of the bunker, find Paladin Ramos in his little security office near the NE corner. He has a gauss rifle, and you can get it from him by using the Stealing Tips. (Note that you mustn't use the sneaky-kill method on any of the Brothers, since that'll turn them all hostile.)
of 11: He also has a T-51b power helmet, as do many of the other Brothers. To get a chance at pickpocketing some Brotherhood T-51b power armor, look around for Brothers who are wearing only their underwear. You may occasionally find one wandering around, and you can check the bedrooms to see if any are sleeping.
of 11: Many other Brothers have gauss rifles, too, so you should end up with quite a few of them to repair together. Also check around to see if you can find anyone with a tri-beam laser rifle.
of 11: Most of the bedroom areas have footlockers and regular lockers that you can raid to get lots of energy weapon ammo. Check all the under-the-floor areas, since most of the rooms down there are bedrooms.
of 11: On the west side of level 1 is a fortified area where Knight Torres runs her weapon store. She'll do business with you, but won't sell you her best stuff until you become a Brotherhood member by finishing its faction quests.
of 11: Note that you can get a tri-beam laser rifle from her by doing the "Missing: One Laser Pistol" undocumented quest. Also note that she can randomly have several high-level weapons in stock no matter what level you are, including ballistic fists, thermic lances, 12.7mm submachine guns, brush guns, and anti-materiel rifles.
of 11: Crouch down and pickpocket her to get the Hidden Valley Depot Key, then go down to the under-the-floor area and look for the door that the key unlocks. It's almost directly under the door that leads to Torres' room.
of 11: Go through the door and crouch down, then loot the two ammo boxes ahead. Go up the stairs to get into Torres' store area, then loot it without letting her see you. (Note that there are laser and plasma rifles on high-up shelves that you should drag down using Grab mode before taking.)
of 11: Level 2 of the bunker doesn't have much of value. All the stuff lying around on the tables in the eastern room is broken, and there aren't all that many Brothers with valuable armor or weapons on them.
of 11: WARNING: If your Science skill is 75+, you can hack the terminal that's on the wall in Paladin Ramos' office on level 1 of the bunker and reprogram the turrets to fire on registered Brotherhood personnel. That'll cause them to kill off most of the Brotherhood guys on level 1, after which you can loot them. However, even if the survivors don't turn hostile right away, they will before long. You could wear an official Brotherhood faction outfit to keep that from happening, but some people (including Knight Torres and Elder McNamara) will attack you, anyway.
