What's the best plan for sniping the president down?

  • 1 of 7: After you talk to Cato, go back west to the road, then turn north and get onto the dam itself, watching out for a patrolling ranger near its start.
  • 2 of 7: Move down the dam until you reach the first guard tower on your right, then go up the little ramp to where you can climb the ladder. Before you do, crouch down, use a stealth boy, and get out your sniper rifle.
  • 3 of 7: After climbing the ladder, use V.A.T.S. to deliver a sneak-attack head shot to the ranger who's up there to kill him instantly. That'll turn a lot of the NCR people down on the ground hostile, but that doesn't matter yet.
  • 4 of 7: The president should still be on his way to the stage he's giving his speech on. While staying crouched, move over to the wall to the right of the radio table so you can use your sniper scope to see the stage.
  • 5 of 7: As soon as the speech begins, carefully target the back of the president and shoot him. (A head shot is unnecessary, and harder to make.)
  • 6 of 7: If you immediately sneak over to the roof's east corner, you should be able to bring up the Pip-Boy and fast-travel away. (Don't go to the Fort right away if you're still wearing an NCR outfit, though.) If you can't, keep lowering the Pip-Boy and bringing it back up to see if you can the next time.
  • 7 of 7: If you can't ever fast-travel from the roof, then go down the ladder and sneak-run north a bit. That should make fast-travel possible.
