What if I did?
1 of 4: After following Benny into the Presidential Suite, walk over to where he's sitting and talk to him.
2 of 4: After asking Benny about the platinum chip and his plans, you can either agree to work for him to get 250 caps or insist on starting a combat with him.
3 of 4: If you accept the money, he'll get up and head for the elevator. If you let him leave, he'll escape, and his four bodyguards will show up and attack you.
4 of 4: It's better to either provoke Benny into a fight in dialogue, or to accept his money and quickly kill him before his bodyguards show up. If he's dead when they arrive, they may leave without turning hostile.
