Fallout: New Vegas Hints
NCR Dogtag Collectors
1 of 6: Go to Camp Forlorn Hope (location 12 on the Zone 4 Map) and find Quartermaster Mayes, who's usually in the tent just east of the storage shed.
2 of 6: Ask how things are around the camp, then agree to collect and turn in dogtags from fallen NCR soldiers.
3 of 6: You'll only get 2 caps per dogtag, but after you turn in 15 of them, you'll get a bonus of 100 caps, 6 beers, and 100 XP. After that, you can keep turning in dogtags to get the usual 2 caps each for them, or you can make them into dog tag fist weapons (see the "Saving Private Halford" undocumented quest).
4 of 6: As an alternative, go to Cottonwood Cove (location 33 on the Zone 4 map) and talk to Aurelius of Phoenix, who's usually standing just outside his office above the HQ building.
5 of 6: Ask him if the Legion sees much action there, then ask about the bounty on NCR troops. You can then give him dogtags to get 10 caps and a bit of Legion fame for each one. If you can pass a Barter 35 check, you'll gain the option to trade dogtags to Decanus Severus at the nearby supply tent for various types of supplies (plus Legion fame).
6 of 6: As for where to find dogtags, you can get quite a few from NCR soldiers that are already dead. For the rest, either pickpocket or ambush-kill (see the Stealing Tips) generic NCR troopers in the various NCR camps.
