Fallout 3 Hints
Takoma Park
1 of 12: This interior region includes the following Zone 9 Map locations: Takoma Industrial (26) and Takoma Park (27). It has an exit to one underground metro area: Vernon East/Takoma Park.
2 of 12: This area is inhabited by super mutants, including a behemoth, so come heavily armed and with many healing items. Bring a fat man weapon if you've got one. The tour starts at the Vernon East/Takoma Park entrance.
3 of 12: Go up the stairs and forward to find a mail dropbox, then look to the right (south) for a small alley with a trash bin in it.
4 of 12: Sneak carefully toward the upsloping street to the east. Even if you're not spotted, one of the super mutants will fire a missile that detonates several cars. Hang back until the explosions are over, then start sniping at the mutants. (After getting their attention, you may want to retreat to the metro stairs and wait for them there.)
5 of 12: Near where the street starts to slope up, look for two mail dropboxes. There's a garbage can just south of them, a fire hydrant you can drink from just east of them, and the door to the NiftyThrifty store (plus another garbage can) across the street to the north of them. (Watch out for a baby carriage bomb near the store's big sign.)
6 of 12: As you go up the sloping street, look on the left side for a food item and another fire hydrant. On the right side of the street are a Nuka-Cola vending machine, a side area with food items, a fridge, and a first aid box, and a garbage can a bit past that.
7 of 12: Go up to where the street divides, then stand and shoot at the super mutants you can see down the street's left branch. After they're dead, go up the right street branch to where you can jump into the back of a truck container and find two stimpaks and three ammo boxes.
8 of 12: Open the Pulowski Preservation Shelter just north of the truck's cab to find a dead wastelander and an ammo box, then head down the left street branch.
9 of 12: Search the mutants' tent to find a bed, two first aid boxes, and two ammo boxes, then look for a small doorway leading into a building near the rubble-blocked end of the street. Check the oven for a pilot light and drink from the bathroom sink if you need healing, then exit the building to reach the second big outdoor area.
10 of 12: Leave the backyard area and go along the paths until you come to a large hole in a fence that leads to a radioactive area where super mutants are fighting Talon Company mercs.
11 of 12: After you finish off the survivors, look along the area's north side for two doors to the Factory building. On the west side, near one of the Factory doors, is a large fence gate that you can open.
12 of 12: There are now only two areas in this region left to explore.
