Fallout 3 Hints

Springvale Tour

  • 1 of 10: Enter Springvale from the west on its main road, watching for a large blue mailbox on the left that you can raid for items.
  • 2 of 10: A short distance east of that, you'll find a mailbox in front of a ruined house. Check the mailbox for items, then enter the house and check its wrecky cabinet for more items.
  • 3 of 10: Return to the sidewalk and look for unbent tin cans as you move east to the next house. Its front mailbox contains an Unarmed skill book called "Pugilism Illustrated," and there's a locked safe in the house to the left of the bathtub. (See the Lockpicking Tips.)
  • 4 of 10: By now, you've probably noticed an Enclave eyebot going up and down the street, broadcasting President Eden's propaganda channel. Get out your best melee weapon, get close to the eyebot, then use V.A.T.S. to whack it to pieces.
  • 5 of 10: At the street corner is a playground with a garbage can in its NE corner that may or may not contain any items. There's also a fire hydrant next to the street that you can drink from to restore health, though note that you'll take a bit of radiation each time you do. (But it's still better than the nearby water tower.)
  • 6 of 10: From the hydrant, cross the street to another wrecked house with a mailbox in front of it and two suitcases on the nearby porch, then move west to the next house, which has a fallen-over mailbox, plus a shiny silver footlocker and a refrigerator to search.
  • 7 of 10: Go down to the Red Rocket gas station and search near the rocket's "legs" to find a garbage can and a Nuka-Cola vending machine. A short way directly east, next to a fence, are two big trash bins that you can check for items.
  • 8 of 10: Go north to find a garbage can next to a covered bench, followed by another fire hydrant you can drink from. Near the STOP sign at the street corner, you'll find a mail dropbox. Also, check inside the nearby wrecked house for a locked cabinet.
  • 9 of 10: Go west across the street to find a "small ranch" house that you can actually enter.
  • 10 of 10: Check the trash bin that's a bit SW of the ranch house, then go NE across the street to reach another wrecked house with a mailbox. Unfortunately, the mailbox just has some dumb Vault-Tec letter, and none of the nearby three houses have anything in them. Neither do the two up on the nearby hill, so that's it for Springvale (except for the school, which is covered separately).
