Fallout 3 Hints

Set A Repeating Encounters

  • #1: 1 to 4 giants ants fighting a radscorpion. Quickly kill as many of them as you can to get the most XP out of the situation.

#2: 2 to 4 giant ants gathered around a toxic waste barrel. One of them will touch the toxic waste and become even more giant before they attack you.

#3: 1 to 3 radscorpions attacking a wastelander. When he dies, they'll start in on you.

#4: 2 to 5 radroaches gathered around a dead wastelander. Kill the radroaches, then search the wastelander to find some food items. (This can only happen at night.)

#5: A scavenger merchant with his pack brahmin and pet. You can barter with him, or you can kill him and his animals, then raid his inventory.

#6: A wasteland doctor who will offer you the normal doctoring services.

#7: A pack of 2 to 5 vicious dogs next to a dead wastelander.

#8: 1 to 3 hunters hunting down their randomly chosen animal prey. You can barter with them for food and stimpaks.

#9: A scavenger trying to salvage an Enclave eyebot. You can barter with him.

#10: Some settlers gathered near an Enclave eyebot, listening to its propaganda broadcasts.

#11: A dead scavenger. A roll against your Luck attribute will determine whether he has a fat man and mini nuke on him, or ordinary scavenger junk.

#12: A small minefield with 3 to 5 set frag mines that you should carefully disarm and claim for future use.

#13: A camp with 2 to 4 ghouls in it who are traveling to Tenpenny Tower. They'll be hostile if you killed off Roy Phillips and his friends. (This can only happen after you finish the misc. quest "Tenpenny Tower.")

#14: A scavenger trader who has a bottle of Nuka-Cola Quantum to sell, plus directions to Girdershade. There's a 50% chance he'll have a pack brahmin with him, which will mean that he has more items to sell. As for the quantum, he asks 100 caps for it, though you can get the price down to 50 caps by passing an average-difficulty Speech Challenge.

#15: A group of 2 to 4 pilgrims on their way to Oasis to raid the place. Speak to them to learn where Oasis is and to start a fight with them.

#16: 2 to 4 hitmen attack you for being a slaver. (This can only happen after you finish the "Strictly Business" misc. quest.)

#17: 2 to 5 jealous slavers attack you for giving them too much competition. (This can only happen after you finish the "Strictly Business" misc. quest.)

#18: 2 to 4 super mutants guard 1 to 3 captives. Kill off the super mutants, then free the captives for karma increases. (This encounter usually happens near Vault 87 (Zone 4/7) or the Germantown Police HQ (Zone 5/1).)

#19: 2 to 4 non-hostile ghouls at a camp. Talk to them about the ghoul Underworld to get the Museum of History marked on your world map.

#20: A chem dealer at his camp. You can barter with him for various chems.

#21: 2 to 5 mole rats chasing a wastelander. Kill them before they can kill him, then talk to him to get some caps as a reward.

#22: A mole rat attacking a wastelander who's read Moira Brown's survival guide. How well he does depends on how good the guide is. If the guide is especially good, he'll survive easily, and you can get some caps from him by talking to him about the guide. (This can only happen after you finish the misc. quest "The Wasteland Survival Guide.")

#23: One of the Gomezes from Vault 101, now dead. There are only three possible people for this encounter, so it can happen at most three times. Loot the body you find for a few items. (This can only happen after you finish the "Trouble on the Homefront" misc. quest by forcing everyone to evacuate the vault.)

#24: This encounter is similar to the special hit squad encounters, except that there are no level or perk requirements. If your karma is in the good range, three Talon Company mercs will attack you. If it's in the evil range, three Regulators will attack you. (Otherwise, no attack.)
