Lincoln Artifact-Selling Tips

  • 1 of 6: First, note that each sale comes with a tough Speech Challenge that will get you paid double (or more) if you succeed at it.
  • 2 of 6: Always quicksave before selling an item, keep trying to pass the Speech Challenge for that item until you do, then exit dialogue and quicksave again before moving on to the next item. That can get tedious, but it'll get you lots more caps and XP.
  • 3 of 6: Also note that the difficulty of the Speech Challenges increases a little with each sale, so sell off the most expensive items first. (Those would be the diary, the memorial poster, and the repeater rifle.)
  • 4 of 6: You can make a lot of caps by selling all nine of the Lincoln artifacts to Leroy Walker, but you can make a bit more by selling some of them to other people.
  • 5 of 6: Specifically, Hannibal Hamlin will pay more for Lincoln's repeater rifle (see the "How can I get this quest?" question for directions on finding him), and Abraham Washington in Rivet City (see the "Stealing Independence" misc. quest) will pay more for Lincoln's hat. For every other artifact, Walker pays as much or more than those two guys do.
  • 6 of 6: Also, if your Barter skill is fairly high, you can probably get more for the rifle (and maybe some of the other items) from a regular merchant. Or you might want to keep the rifle and use it yourself, since it's a pretty good weapon.
