Fallout 3 Hints

Strange Town, Strange Meat

  • 1 of 13: Go to the town of Andale (location 10 on the Zone 8 Map) and have a look around.
  • 2 of 13: If you talk to the Smiths or Wilsons, you'll hear about what a great town this is, but not specifically why.
  • 3 of 13: They have a horrible secret that you can uncover with a bit of simple detective work.
  • 4 of 13: Try looking in the refrigerator in either the Smiths' house or the Wilsons' house.
  • 5 of 13: You see that "strange meat" that's in there? I wonder what that could be.
  • 6 of 13: To find out, you'll need to check out either the Smiths' basement or the garden shed.
  • 7 of 13: In either the basement or the shed, you'll find the gory remains of dead people all over the place. These guys are some serious cannibals!
  • 8 of 13: All four of them will confront you when you exit the house or shed, and you'll have a tough time talking them out of a fight.
  • 9 of 13: You could just kill them all if you want to. The old man who also lives in Andale will be grateful, and will promise to raise the two young kids using non-cannibalistic child-rearing methods.
  • 10 of 13: If you don't want a fight, keep reloading the autosave that was made when you exited the house or shed until you can pass a Speech Challenge.
  • 11 of 13: TIP: To get an easier Speech Challenge, start by admitting that you were in the basement or shed, then say that you saw a lot of bodies there.
  • 12 of 13: If you can keep the cannibals from turning hostile, you can get a strange meat pie from Linda Smith once a day. (However, the pies are no better than most irradiated food items, so that's no big deal.)
  • 13 of 13: In any case, you should raid all of the refrigerators in Andale (except the old man's) for strange meat. It's not very useful as a food item, but it can be traded for better stuff after you finish the "The Cave Fungus Trade" undocumented quest.
