Fallout 3 Hints
Escape the Vault.
1 of 6: Wait as the vault door slowly opens, and Amata runs into the room.
2 of 6: After she talks to you, beat up (or shoot down) the two security officers who barge in, then take as much of their stuff as you can carry.
3 of 6: When you're ready to leave Vault 101, go down the cave tunnel past the open vault door to reach the door that leads outside.
4 of 6: Clicking on the exit door will automatically make a save in a regular slot, and will give you your last chance to set your character's race, attributes, etc. See the Character Creation Tips if you're still undecided.
5 of 6: When you find yourself outside, go forward a step or two to finish this quest and start on "Following in His Footsteps."
6 of 6: You'll also probably have enough XP to level up to level 2. Be sure to allocate your skill points to the skills you plan to use the most in the near future. (One of them is Explosives, so make sure it's at least 15. Trust me on this.)
