Fallout 3 Hints
Traveling Traders
1 of 6: There are four traveling merchants that follow a long, leisurely route around the wasteland.
2 of 6: They're named Crazy Wolfgang, Crow, Doc Hoff, and Lucky Harith. There are also several scavenger traders and a guy named Tinker Joe that you can randomly meet, but they're part of the Random Encounters, not the traveling traders.
3 of 6: The four traveling traders travel counterclockwise along the following circuit: Canterbury Commons (location 2 on the Zone 6 Map) to Temple of the Union (location 9 on the Zone 3 Map) to Agatha's House (location 7 on the Zone 5 Map) to Paradise Falls (location 8 on the Zone 2 Map) to Arefu (location 4 on the Zone 5 Map) to Evergreen Mills (location 4 on the Zone 7 Map) to Megaton (location 3 on the Zone 8 Map) to Rivet City (location 64 on the Zone 9 Map), then back to the beginning.
4 of 6: If you want to check all four of their inventories, or want to do business with a particular one, stand in a spot next to one of their stopping places and wait one hour as many times as is necessary to get the next trader to appear. Keep it up until you've traded with them all (or the one you're after).
5 of 6: You can increase the four traders' inventories and Repair skills by talking to Uncle Roe in Canterbury Commons (location 2 on the Zone 6 Map) about investing money in them. (If he won't let you invest at first, try again later when you have at least 250 caps.)
6 of 6: Unfortunately, the traders can be killed by hostile wasteland creatures, and they'll never respawn. They can only be attacked if they're in the same cell (currently loaded game region) that you're in, but that can happen without you even knowing it if they're not close to you.
