Fallout 3 Hints

How can I help to protect the traveling traders?

  • 1 of 7: The best way is to use pickpocketing to "give" them better armor and weapons, plus a bunch of stimpaks.
  • 2 of 7: Make sure the armor and weapons you give them are in the best condition possible, and spare as many stimpaks as you can.
  • 3 of 7: If you give them a new weapon that uses a different type of ammo than their old weapon does, you'll need to also give them one bullet for the new weapon. That's enough to allow them unlimited use of the weapon.
  • 4 of 7: All four traders' caravan guards are great with both small guns and big guns, so give them something powerful that falls into one of those two categories. (Fully-repaired gatling lasers would be ideal, but tough to get.)
  • 5 of 7: As for the traders themselves, Lucky Harith is best with small guns and energy weapons, Doc Hoff is best with melee weapons, and the other two are best with small guns. If you can, give Lucky Harith the Alien Blaster or Firelance, Doc Hoff a shishkebab (see the Custom Weapons hints), and the other two Chinese assault rifles or combat shotguns.
  • 6 of 7: For armor, Enclave hellfire armor (from the Broken Steel expansion) is ideal, though any power armor in good condition would work well, too.
  • 7 of 7: NOTE: You can also use the PC Cheat Codes to give each trader and guard a huge number of hit points.
