Locate Harlan Wade

  • 1 of 17: After your lift stops near a huge and weird-looking sphere, get off onto the walkway and head into the hallway.
  • 2 of 17: After going along a short way, you'll see Paxton Fettel up ahead next to Alice Wade's dead body.
  • 3 of 17: You'll know that Fettel is finally really dead when you come upon the three Elite Replicas just past the next room -- they're completely inert!
  • 4 of 17: Hit each of the Elite Replicas with a melee attack in order to knock him down and claim his weapon. That way you'll have the pistol *and* a repeating cannon with lots of ammo.
  • 5 of 17: A little further along, there's a desk with an "Alienware" laptop on it that you can use to view an interesting video log of Harlan Wade's. (Or maybe not -- this laptop was mysteriously absent during one of my playthrus.)
  • 6 of 17: A ways past that is a lift that you can take up by using its blue "activate" panel.
  • 7 of 17: At the top, you'll see Harlan Wade through a closed and locked door.
  • 8 of 17: What he's doing becomes readily apparent as you watch -- he's releasing Alma from her prison in the center of the huge sphere!
  • 9 of 17: After the freaky vision you get, the door to Harlan's room will open, allowing you to pass through it and move on.
  • 10 of 17: The next room has body armor and a medkit in it, and a dark warpy-looking blur a little farther down.
  • 11 of 17: There's no way around the blur, so enter it to get taken to another "darkfire" vision where you need to back up and shoot Nightmares as they appear. (Actually, backing up doesn't work so well in this one, so you might want to just turn and shoot in-place.)
  • 12 of 17: When you return to the room, you'll need to shoot more Nightmares as they come through the reality warps ahead of you.
  • 13 of 17: NOTE: The repeating cannon can take several Nightmares out in one shot, but you can far too easily get hurt by the splash damage, so I recommend using the pistol until you get a sub-machinegun later on.
  • 14 of 17: TIP: After you go through the door at the back of the room, go straight ahead and look behind some barrels for one last reflex booster.
  • 15 of 17: Be ready to shoot two more groups of Nightmares along the path. (And check for body armor in a corner of the room they appear in, near the spot where they appear.)
  • 16 of 17: Remember to start retreating as soon as you see reality warps so as to minimize the chances that one or more of the Nightmares will reach you and do damage.
  • 17 of 17: You'll eventually make it to a large room with four big blue energy beams in the center of it.
