Magic Tips
of 7: There are quite a few spells and magic skills in the game, but all you really need are the Fireball and Summon Demon spells, 200 or more mana points, an Ancient Knowledge attribute of at least 250, and the Mana Regeneration skill.
of 7: I don't advise spending many skill points on any of that early in the game. Instead, wait until you've gotten all the hunting skills and the most important fighting, thieving, and smithing skills.
of 7: When you start building up lots of skill points again, buy yourself a hundred or so mana points from the shrine statues.
of 7: Then it's time for what I call the Ancient Knowledge pilgrimage.
of 7: If your Ancient Knowledge is less than 250 after the pilgrimage is over, go to a trainer and buy however many points you need to get it to 250.
of 7: Then go buy the Fireball and Summon Demon spells from shrines if you haven't already. You can easily take on large groups of creatures by summoning a demon to hack and distract them while you fireball them from a distance. (And since you're not using up your endurance on sword swings, you'll always have plenty for when you need to sprint a bit to gain distance from approaching enemies.)
of 7: It's also important to quickly find someone who sells the Mana Regeneration skill (see the Magic Skills trainer list) and buy it. That'll make stopping and glugging mana potions frequently during battle a thing of the past, and you can pretty much totally rely on your demons and fireballs for all combat situations.
