Gothic 3 Hints

Misc. Tips

  • 1 of 7: You can often get up fairly steep slopes by leaning on the Walk Forward key and rapidly tapping the Jump key. If the slope isn't too steep, you'll be able to make more progress than you lose when you slide backward.
  • 2 of 7: The exact contents of most treasure chests are randomly generated when you open the chests. So if you save your game right before you open a chest, you can restore your save and try again if you don't like what you get.
  • 3 of 7: The same goes for shopkeepers' inventories. Quicksave before you talk to them for the first time, then quickrestore and try again if you think you can get a better assortment of goods. (See the Ardea Notes for an example of when this can be very useful.)
  • 4 of 7: After you turn an item over to someone in order to get a reward, you can often beat up that person and then take the item back from him. However, watch out that doing so doesn't anger everyone else around (which sometimes happens, but not always).
  • 5 of 7: After you start doing some serious hunting, you'll be getting a lot of raw meat off of your kills. You should periodically roast your raw meat supply by clicking on any campfire and choosing to roast the meat. Also, put the roast meat down on your quick-slot bar so you can quickly chomp a piece or two of it when you need to restore some health.
  • 6 of 7: A quick and easy way to get some raw meat is to kill chickens and hares. Unlike wolves and deer and such, they only take one hit to kill, they don't run away, and they don't fight back!
  • 7 of 7: Be on the lookout for small grave headstones that consist of a skull and two crossed skeletal arms attached to a short piece of wood. When you find one, click on it to dig up some treasure (if you have a shovel).
