Gothic 3 Hints
Liberate Geldern from the orcs!
1 of 10: Talk to Marius in his house near the SW corner of town to see how you can gain the support of the local slaves in retaking Geldern.
2 of 10: He tells you to first check in the temple to see if Grok, the orc leader, is in possession of a fire chalice.
3 of 10: Get your local reputation up to 75 or more, then go talk to Grok in his throne room.
4 of 10: Report back to Marius to get him to say that he and the slaves will attack when you do.
5 of 10: When you're ready to start, leave the city through either its northern or southern exit, then start attacking that exit's guards.
6 of 10: NOTE: You may have to deliver a killing blow to the first guard or two using the method on page 26 of the manual to really get things started.
7 of 10: One of the biggest problems will be the orc shaman guys, who can fire magic spells at you from a distance. Either try to dispose of them quickly, or dodge them while killing enough other orcs and mercs to cause them to flee.
8 of 10: If this is all too much for you, use the Liberation Tips to help out, especially the one about clearing out the town's guards one by one before starting the liberation.
9 of 10: After enough orcs and mercenaries are dead to cause the rest to flee, you'll get 7500 XP and five Rebel rep points, plus XP for all the fleeing orcs and mercenaries.
10 of 10: Talk to Marius to get 10 mana potions and 1000 XP, and to Lares to get another 1000 XP.
