Half-Life 2: Episode One Hints
How can I fix this walkway so it won't do that?
1 of 10: There's nothing to weight down its back end with, as usual.
2 of 10: But look across to the niche that's straight ahead and past the small walkway segment.
3 of 10: There's a blue plastic barrel in there. Do you recognize it from the main Half-Life 2 game?
4 of 10: Those things are very buoyant, floating easily in water.
5 of 10: You used several of them to buoy up a floating ramp at one point in the main game, and you're going to do something similar now with this one.
6 of 10: Grab onto the barrel with the gravity gun and dive into the water.
7 of 10: Move so that the barrel is directly underneath the tipsy end of the long walkway segment, then release the barrel.
8 of 10: Surface nearby to see whether or not the barrel "stuck" in the right spot. If not, grab onto it and try again.
9 of 10: It's best if the barrel is "standing" upright instead of being on its side. That'll make it harder for it to slip out of position.
10 of 10: Take a couple of trial runs (and jumps) to make sure the barrel is in a good, stable position, and that you can jump across to the small walkway piece.
