Half-Life 2: Episode One Hints
BUG WARNING
1 of 6: Alyx can get really screwed up and mysteriously lose her gun if you don't do things right here.
2 of 6: The danger seems to be confined to those who meet these specifications:
* Easy difficulty (so gunship only takes 3 rockets to kill) * have RPG with 3 rockets from previous areas * use my shoot-through-the-hallway-windows strategy
3 of 6: As I stated in the Hallway Combat Tips, the gunship is invincible until you enter the rickety wooden building that's past the combat hallway.
4 of 6: However, to make the gunship vulnerable, all you have to do is approach the bottom of the stairs that lead up into the wooden building.
5 of 6: But if you go back and destroy the gunship before you go to the top of those stairs and a bit forward, Alyx may mess up and lose her gun after the gunship is killed, which stalls the game at the shotgun rack later on (because she never takes a shotgun or lowers the nearby force field.)
6 of 6: So no matter what difficulty level you're on and what your RPG situation is, always run up the stairs in the wooden building and move forward at least a little before destroying the gunship. That should avoid the bug in all cases.
