Antlion Worker Combat Tips
1 of 17: Right after you drop down, duck behind the nearby crates as the first antlion worker throws some spit at you.
2 of 17: It'll jump up through a ceiling hole right after doing that, but it'll be back down in just a few seconds.
3 of 17: You could run up to it and kill it with gravity gun blasts, but that'll take a lot of blasts, and there's a fairly high chance that you'll get spit on.
4 of 17: A slightly better way is to hit it with one gravity gun blast, then quickly switch to the crowbar and whack it with that. To do this, you'll need to get very close to the worker before you grav-blast it. If you do, you may be able to kill it with the crowbar before it can recover.
5 of 17: If you want to try either of those methods, quicksave before you start so you can quickrestore and try again if you get hurt.
6 of 17: Another way is to keep your distance while using gravity gun projectiles (such as rocks and crates) to damage the antlion worker.
7 of 17: In fact, a single well-thrown rock may kill the antlion worker in one shot. (If not, dodge its spit and quickly grab another rock.)
8 of 17: After the first antlion worker is dead, look on the right set of tracks near his ceiling hole to find a red box of shotgun ammo. You'll have a use for it soon.
9 of 17: When the tunnel turns left, look for the other two antlion workers to be in the small area at the far end of the tunnel.
10 of 17: What you should do is sprint forward and into the side room on the left that has lots of weapons and ammo in it.
11 of 17: After you pick up all the goodies, move along the inside of the room's fence wall to provoke the antlion workers into throwing their toxic spit at you.
12 of 17: As long as you're inside the room and not right in the open doorway, you're safe, so you can stand there (or duck in and out of the doorway) to get the antlion workers to keep throwing spit. They should eventually hit and kill each other.
13 of 17: Or better yet, make a quick run toward them and get behind the bit of fencing that's on either side of their area.
14 of 17: Don't press up against the fence, or you may take a little bit of damage every now and then. Instead, stand just a bit back from it.
15 of 17: You can then wait for the antlion workers to accidentally kill themselves, or you can shoot them through the fencing with the pistol.
16 of 17: Also, note the explosive canisters in their area that you can shoot to blow them up.
17 of 17: It's fairly easy to strafe out of cover long enough to deliver a shotgun blast or two if you'd rather speed things up that way.
