2 of 8: After you pick up the gnome, leave the shed and enter the nearby mine tunnel.
3 of 8: Use the gnome to kill the poison headcrab in the tunnel for "Bone Breaker" achievement credit, then leave the gnome on the ground while you figure out how to get through the tunnel's boarded-over exit.
4 of 8: Outside, take the gnome with you as you drop into the area past the fences.
5 of 8: Drop the gnome on the ground near the gate as you go about opening it and provoking the hunter attack on Alyx.
6 of 8: After the vort picks Alyx up, grab the gnome and take it with you to the elevator.
7 of 8: Drop it in the elevator before you get in, then get in and make it descend to the bottom of its shaft.
