The Orange Box: Half-Life 2: Episode Two Hints

Section 1: Mine Tunnels and a Hunter (ep2_outland_01)

  • 1 of 16: After the Episode One recap (which you can skip by pressing ESC), you'll wake up in the wreckage of the train that you were making your getaway on when Episode One ended with a major bang.
  • 2 of 16: Get the gravity gun from Alyx, then look around for a way out of the train wreck site.
  • 3 of 16: In the next area, you'll find the entrance to a large, dark tunnel. However, it's blocked by two sections of unmovable fencing.
  • 4 of 16: In the outdoor area past the tunnel's exit, look for a supply crate with two health vials in it, then locate the shed door that has a wooden crate in front of it. (Note that one or both of those crates may have been destroyed in the battle, especially if you were hurling explosive canisters that way.)
  • 5 of 16: Inside the shed, you'll need to help Alyx fix the communications equipment so she can send a message to Dr. Vance.
  • 6 of 16: After the message is over, leave the shed through its other door and find the nearby dark tunnel entrance.
  • 7 of 16: Once you're back outside, you'll need to find a way to get over the fence that's between you and the buildings.
  • 8 of 16: Alyx will run over to a gate and ask you to find a way to open it.
  • 9 of 16: After you open the gate, you'll have to figure out how to leave the building you're in.
  • 10 of 16: As you leave the building, a freaky new adversary called a hunter will appear and attack Alyx.
  • 11 of 16: Go through the gate you just opened, and blast a board out of the following doorway. (Or jump over the board, which will break it.)
  • 12 of 16: When you reach closed doors, use the gravity gun's Secondary Fire mode on the board that's holding the doors shut.
  • 13 of 16: Move on to come to an elevator that isn't working properly.
  • 14 of 16: At the bottom of the elevator shaft, bash the boards that are in the way with your new crowbar, then check out the nearby room.
  • 15 of 16: Bash or move the wooden table that's in the room's doorway, then check an open locker on the right to find an armor battery.
  • 16 of 16: Moving to the back of that room will get you the "LOADING" sign, and Section 2: Antlion Caverns will begin.
