2 of 7: Drive carefully down to the rubble-blocked tunnel, at which time you'll want to drop the gnome on the road somewhere in plain sight and leave it behind. It would fall out of the car repeatedly during your bumpy little off-road excursion.
3 of 7: After you park the car near the radio tower, go back on foot and get the gnome, then go drop it somewhere in the radio tower area where you can find it again later on.
4 of 7: After you get a message sent to the White Forest base, get the gnome and go through the gate that Alyx opens on foot.
5 of 7: Take the gnome down the road to the big drop-off point that serves as a point of no return.
6 of 7: Drop the gnome down to the lower road past the drop-off, then go back and get the car.
7 of 7: You can leave the gnome at the drop-off until you reach Chapter 4, Section 3.
