Mixed Antlion Combat Tips

  • 1 of 13: In the tunnel that starts in the back of the barnacle cave, dodge around a barnacle tongue that lowers as you approach.
  • 2 of 13: Just past it, stand behind another barnacle tongue as an antlion runs toward you.
  • 3 of 13: If you're standing so that the barnacle tongue is directly between you and the antlion, it should get caught, and you can go by safely after it's pulled up.
  • 4 of 13: Past that is a large cave room with a big pool of water in the middle and several antlions at the other end.
  • 5 of 13: Hang back and dodge antlion worker spit while the regular antlions jump into the water and drown.
  • 6 of 13: If the worker doesn't drown himself soon, you might want to dive into the water and move toward him while underwater to see if that'll work. Just don't drown yourself!
  • 7 of 13: Cross the pool of water to find the start of another tunnel.
  • 8 of 13: There's a worker in the tunnel, but he won't attack right away. Take the opportunity to grab a couple of grenades from near two grub worms.
  • 9 of 13: The worker won't attack until you reach the cave area where there are two other workers to back him up.
  • 10 of 13: As you approach that area, you can strategically lob grenades ahead of you to kill the workers before they can see you and attack.
  • 11 of 13: Or you can run up to them and use the shotgun on them. A double-barrel up-close blast should score an instant kill on each worker.
  • 12 of 13: There are also several large rocks lying around that you can use as gravity gun ammo.
  • 13 of 13: You could try leading them back to the previous cave room with the large pool in it, but that's probably more trouble than it's worth.
