The Orange Box: Half-Life 2: Episode Two Hints

Payback (EP2_KILL_HUNTER_WITHFLECHETTES)

  • 1 of 6: To get this achievement, contrive to kill a hunter with its own explosive darts.
  • 2 of 6: What you'll want to do is injure a hunter by other means, then hold a non-explosive barrel, green filing cabinet, or whatever out in front of you with the gravity gun.
  • 3 of 6: The next time the hunter fires its darts at you, most or all of them should stick to the item you're holding.
  • 4 of 6: Toss the dart-filled item at the hunter, and it'll hopefully be killed by the dart explosions. (If it is, it'll hover briefly and disintegrate instead of falling to the ground.)
  • 5 of 6: The first good opportunity for this is in Chapter 4's Section 1: Hunted at the Radio Tower.
  • 6 of 6: If you use my Strategy for Extensive Preparation to fight the hunters, the best time to try for this achievement is with the last two hunters. Use your stockpiled grav-gun ammo items (like the green filing cabinets) to catch the darts.
